Daily 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die selection:
The Kinks – The Village Green Preservation Society – Rating: 2 / 5
I know you’re not supposed to judge kinks, but I’m judging The Kinks. I felt like I was listening to a Beatles’ clone with more simplified lyrics. It almost sounded like an album made for a children’s book soundtrack at times, and I struggled to push that thought from my mind. Older rock just mostly continues to not be my jam, and this is just another example of it just not hitting for me.

D.O (Lee Hyun Do) – The New Classik… And You Don’t Stop – Rating: 4.25 / 5
Doing another album revisit! Lee Hyun Do dropped this album back in 2004 and brought in a slew of guest appearances of some of the best in Korean Hip Hop at the time. Some appearances include Epik high, Cho PD, Defconn, Vasco, Joosuc, Kim Jin Pyo, and more. Lee Hyun Do puts together a great album that clearly pulls its influence from U.S. Hip Hop from the early 2000s. 20 years later and this album is still a fantastic listen for the most part. When the songs hit they are absolutely bangers, but there are a few tracks that just kind of throw off the flow of the album. It’s very jarring when it happens, because they just don’t fit the production levels of the rest of the album. You can’t help but wonder why it wasn’t trimmed out. If you skip past these songs, you will find a gem of an album not discussed enough nowadays.
