Everything But The Girl – Idlewild – Rating: 2 / 5

Another album that baffles me as to how it got an entry on this list. It’s not a horrible singer songwriter album, but it’s just not very interesting overall. I figured it would be up my alley, but it never really got going and just kind of sounded the same for the most part. As the album went on, it slowly morphed in to background music that couldn’t hold my attention

Demae – Deliver Me EP – Rating: 4.25 / 5

Sultry and soulful is how I felt as “Bloody Bouquet” starts and Demae starts singing, and it reminded me Sade’s style. Once you get to “Speechless”, her voice switches up to a style that comes across sweet like honey and I was addicted. A lot of the production feels like 80’s and 90s, but freshened up for 2024. Like some other EPs I’ve listened to recently, it’s just a bit too short. The tracks of the intro “Regret” and an Interlude makes the EP look a bit more meaty than it is. Even with that one complaint, Demae is on my radar going forward. I also included the video for Bloody Bouquets in the Favorite Videos section.
