G-Nitro’s Daily Music Wrap-Up – 09/18/24

Daily 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die selection:

Lauryn Hill – The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill – Rating: 4 / 5

I truly do not like Lauryn Hill the person at all, but this album is a classic for a reason. I don’t think it’s a 5 out of 5, but it definitely deserves its props and a spot on the list because this album took over at the time of release. Lauryn has so much talent, and showcases her skills of both rapping and singing through the album. Sadly my opinion of Lauryn keeps from truly enjoying the album to its fullest.

Other albums:

2 Mello – Memories of Tokyo-To – Rating: 4 / 5

Off the jump I was in my seat at work just straight grooving. I won’t fake like I’m a huge Jet Set Radio fan, as I’ve only played it a bit back in the day, but I can say the music was always memorable. This album captures that feeling so well blending electronic music with hip hop, and even some jazz and electro-swing at times. I’m not sure if it is 2 Mello rapping on track 3, but the Del the Funky Homosapien influences were all over his delivery on that specific track. Some of the other tracks featuring rap didn’t always hit that same high as track 3, but they were still really good.
