Daily 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die selection:
Gene Clark – White Light – Rating: 1 / 5
Immediately set the tone with a Country twang folk song, and I knew I was in for a rough time. By track three I was pretty much checked out and really didn’t want to listen to any more of Gene Clark’s voice. It just continuously sounds the same, with no personality behind his voice through out the album. Considering it only achieved success in the Netherlands, and bombed in the U.S, that should have been a good indication to leave it off this list.

Paris Hilton – Infinite Icon – Rating: 2.5 / 5
After the Gene Clark album, I wanted to listen to something that would be very different and ended up just clicking play on this latest Paris Hilton release for whatever reason. As expected going in, the production is very good for a modern pop album. Also to be expected, Paris Hilton isn’t a great singer and lacks any type of vocal range. There are times her lack of range doesn’t matter, like when the tracks are more of a dance/club sound. Yet when the music goes more traditional pop, it’s really noticeable that she just can’t match the production vocally. Surprisingly this wasn’t terrible, and turns out to be just a very average pop album with good production and middling vocals.
