Daily 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die selection:
Heaven17 – Penthouse And Pavement – Rating: 2 / 5
An album full of meaningful lyrics ruined by subpar synthpop and a singer who couldn’t be less bothered trying to actually sound interesting. Outside of the lyrics, the only other good thing about this album is it’s only about 22 minutes long, so you don’t have to suffer more than necessary.

The Get Up Kids – Something To Write Home About – Rating: 2.5/ 5
I never listened to much of the Emo rock/Pop punk that became popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s, but over the past few months that has begun to change. Due to swapping recommendations with a friend weekly, he has suggested quite a few groups and albums. Some I’ve loved and some I’ve been indifferent or down on. I feel like this album is more the latter. I think the band’s music is very good, but I think the lead singer is just lacking. I don’t feel the emotion from him, so he just sounds bland and lacking any personality on the microphone.
