Daily 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die selection:
Beck – Odelay – Rating: 2.5 / 5
I’ve always liked and enjoyed a lot of Beck’s more well known songs, and I liked Mellow Gold when it came out. Yet after that album I never really listened to any of his releases in full. So Odelay is my first one I’ve checked out from start to finish since Mellow Gold. I’ll be honest, this album started off great, but quickly descends into a bit of chaos in regards to direction. I’d be enjoying a song, and then I would find myself becoming downright annoyed by the next, or from some of the sound effects used. The excitement I had when this pick popped up is gone, and I’m left with disappointment.

Other albums:
Junko Ōhashi & Minoya Central Station – Full House – Rating: 4.75 / 5 – Vinyl/Packaging Rating: 5 / 5
I hadn’t listened to much Junko Ōhashi prior to her passing, so this purchase was one I kind of made on a whim after hearing of her passing. I’m glad I did because it’s a groovy City Pop record that is really damn good. From start to finish I was just sitting in my computer chair swaying along as it played. Also the vinyl record is a pretty light pink, and the rest of the packaging is fantastic as well. The outer sleeve is thick and sturdy with an obi, and not only does it have a plastic sleeve for the vinyl, it has a printed inner sleeve also. Can’t go wrong with this in your collection.
Could not find anything official for this album that isn’t just links to purchase vinyl. You can find unofficial streaming versions if you look, but I won’t link them.
