Daily 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die selection:
Fiona Apple – Tidal – Rating: 5 / 5
I was in high school when Fiona Apple dropped “Criminal”, and I remember just being mesmerized by her voice and the music video. Yet I didn’t fully appreciate the entire Tidal album at the time. As I got older I really started loving the album, and today it is definitely up there as an all time favorite. Her voice just pulls you in and makes you pay attention. Absolutely great entry on the list.

Other albums:
Mako Ishino – Mako II – Rating: 4 / 5 – Vinyl/Packaging: 4 / 5
Mako’s 2nd is a very good release for her. I find her albums from 3 on to be her best work, but this is still a very fun release. It’s got a great pop sound that was evolving into the Showa Idol stuff that would take over the 80’s alongside City Pop. Since I bought an original release copy, the outer sleeve is of average quality at the time, but the vinyl itself sounds great.

Isaac Hayes – Black Moses – Rating 4.5 / 5 – Vinyl/Packaging: 5 / 5
Such a fantastic release that is a mix of funk and soul. Isaac Hayes has such a unique voice, and every track is a journey. Most songs are 5 to 8 minutes long, but never feel like they wear out their welcome. I had never heard this album prior to this Vinyl Me Please reissue. Also this reissue is amazing. Not only is it a double LP that sounds fantastic with no issues. The packaging is also amazing. The album comes with a gatefold cover, with a large fold out poster and a listening notes book.
