G-Nitro’s Daily Music Wrap-Up – 10/02/24

Daily 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die selection:

Prodigy – Music For The Jilted Generation – Rating: 3 / 5

Prodigy has always been a group I recognize as being very good at what they do, but damn I just can’t really get in to them. This album had fun moments, but overall I felt like it turned into more noise than music at times, and my brain this early in the morning was screaming out. Another artist I understand being on the list even if I wouldn’t put them on there.

Takako Ohta – Memory Of Creamy Mami – Rating: 4.25 / 5  – Vinyl/Packaging Rating: 4 / 5

I’ve only seen mostly clips of Creamy Mami, so don’t know too much in detail about the show. Over the years though, I have heard plenty of the music to know its up my alley. This album is an album made up mostly of songs by Takako Ohta, the voice actor of Mami, but there are a few sung by Saeko Shimazu. It’s a really good 80s J-Pop album, which is a decade I’ve become pretty obsessed with the past 5 or so years. The packaging is super nice, and includes an obi strip and fold out poster. I will say my vinyl has a slight warp at the beginning, but turning up the weight just a bit on the tone arm cleared the issue. The clear pink vinyl is pretty common in these reissues now, so not anything too stand out there.

Could not find any aggregate or streaming links for this album. If you google you will find places selling the album, but many seemed out of stock.
