Daily 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die selection:
Butthole Surfers – Locust Abortion Technician – Rating: 2.5 / 5
Hey, it’s the Butthole Surfers. Always knew this group’s name, but probably only heard their music a couple times growing up, and I don’t even remember those songs. Diving into this album was a mixed bag. The first half of the album was kind of meh, but the later half had some good tracks that at least ended things on more of a high note. Probably won’t seek out more of their stuff, but finally can say I at least know more than their name now.

Junko Hirotani – Blendy – Rating: 4 / 5 – Vinyl/Packaging Rating: 5 / 5
I had never listened to any Junko Hirotani prior to this album, at least knowingly. I picked this up on a whim, and I’m glad I did. This was a really good city pop album. Some catchy tunes, with “Day Dreamin’” being my favorite on the album. Definitely going to check out more from her, and thankfully I grabbed another of her albums on vinyl. The packaging of the album is a nice and sturdy outer sleeve with an obi strip. The clear pink vinyl is nice, and it played without issues and sounded great.

Kid Dakota – Praegustator – Rating: 3.5 / 5 – Vinyl/Packaging Rating: 4.5 / 5
This is an album that came with my Graveface Records Club subscription and it’s a pretty good album that is hindered by a few things. It’s an album that is very moody and the music and vocals match up well for that vibe, but sometimes they use audio effects that come off as odd or grating. The vinyl itself looks fantastic with the red splatter on ash white. The outer sleeve is a little thin, but the cover art looks nice.
