G-Nitro’s Daily Music Wrap-Up – 08/28/24

Daily 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die selection:

Jah Wobble’s Invaders Of The Heart – Rising Above Bedlam (1991) – Rating: 1.5 / 5

The only reason this gets a 1.5 and not lower is because Natacha Atlas makes an appearance. I’m still giving it a 1 on the 1001 challenge site, because it doesn’t deserve to be rounded up. It’s pretty much cultural appropriation trying to mask itself as acceptable because it features actual artists from the cultures and regions it is taking from. Also the talking instead of singing by Jah Wobble is just incessantly dull.

Other albums:

Loathe – I Let It in and It Took Everything (2020) – Rating:  2 / 5

This was recommended by a friend that I trade album recommendations with each week. He’s provided some metal in the past, and sometimes I find myself enjoying it. This is not one of those times as I’m not into screaming metal that doesn’t have a good balance of singing with it. There are some tracks that have the singing balance and I found those more enjoyable, but as a whole album that balance isn’t there enough for me. Also the music itself was a bit too much noise for me at times. Came off scratchy/grating to me.
