G-Nitro’s Daily Music Wrap-Up – 08/27/24

So I’m going to be trying out something new going forward to push more content to my site. I would my site to be more about all of my hobbies, then just the same weekly, monthly, and yearly K-Pop posts. So I’m going to be trying to motivate myself to do at least a daily music wrap-up, in which I recap the day prior and what I enjoyed or not. These will include ratings and quick thoughts on albums I’m listening to the first time, as well as a daily challenge I’m doing for the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die project. I’ve done over 200 of these now, and I haven’t really discussed them much. While I am starting pretty far ahead in the challenge, I’m going to try to put together a post or even posts showcasing the albums I’ve listened to up to this point. I will also be including favorite videos I’ve watched related to music from that day, and any Fediverse music hashtags I partook in. I hope people enjoy this, and I hope I can keep this up daily as much as possible.

Daily 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die selection:

Le Tigre – Le Tigre (1999) – Rating: 3.5 / 5

Solid pop-punk album. The website only allows full stars, so I was torn for the rating since we can’t do half stars. This album was fun overall, but never stayed consistently high.  I’m going with 3.5 rating on my site, but it’s rated a 4 on the 1001 albums site since I feel slightly better rounding up than giving it a 3.

Other albums:

Purrple Cat – Happy Place (2024) – Rating: 4 / 5

Purrple Cat is a consistent LoFi artist that always manages to stand out from the majority of LoFi artists out there, and this album is no different. It was super chill and perfect while working, and many of the tracks have enough extra flair that keeps them from blending together from track to track.

Gabriela Márcia – Immersive Dreams EP – Rating: 3.5 / 5

It was a nice selection of songs for work since it grooved right along and was more on the mellow side. I always enjoy Gabriela’s work, and this is another entertaining EP.
