Steam Next Fest (February 2026) – Game Demo Quick Thoughts Part Four

The final post of my Steam Next Fest (February  2026) thoughts is here. I had hoped to play a lot more online games with friends, but in the end I was only able to find time for a couple games.

AI disclosure: I personally do not like the use of AI, and therefore did not play any demos that disclosed AI usage at the time of this writing. I checked every game’s description looking for a disclosure. I do my best to not support games that utilize AI.

Sledding Game

This was a super fun and cute hangout game. When I had mentioned it to friends, I was worried how it was going to be received to be honest. Thankfully everyone seemed to enjoy the low stakes, dumb fun nature of it. We had a lot of fun just acting silly and knocking each other around with snowballs, sledding, etc. I’m intrigued to see what this game has to fully offer at launch, and how much the price point will be. While I know we had fun as a group in this demo, price will be a big factor if I can convince everyone to go in on the game when it fully releases. I hope I am able to though, because this seems like a great game for a night on the weekend while everyone enjoys some drinks, and plays something with zero stakes, and laugh the night away.

Fate Trigger

Every play Fortnite and wish it was pretty much nothing but anime waifus? Well I’ve got a game for you! Fate Trigger is a battle royale with just that, anime waifus running around and killing each other, and toss in some PUBG elements too. I went in one game as solo, and one with a group of friends. As someone who has put in a decent amount of time with Fortnite, this was a rough experience for me. There’s just too many quality of life features missing, like a sprint, slide, and more. I didn’t like the button layout either, or the fact I only had 2 guns, but its more like PUBG in that you get gun attachments and such. To be fair, I did like that med kits, and armor were treated separately and you could set the game to auto-loot and automatically pick up enhancements that were better grades. After those 2 games though, I had enough and quit before I found myself becoming more sour on the game.
