G-Nitro’s Last.FM Year In Review – 2024

2024 saw me take a step back from compiling the classic years of K-Pop Top 50 and Top 100 playlists, and I tended to focus even more on all music. I also heavily got back in to listening to more J-Pop and revisiting classic K-Pop albums. I also joined a One Album A Day challenge dedicated to supplying listeners with a single album every day pulled from the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die book(s). If it’s something you’re interest in, I highly recommend checking it out by visiting the 1001 Albums Generator website. You can see my thoughts on many albums in my Daily Music Wrap-Ups, but I did start already a 100+ albums in to the process, so not all were reviewed. Anyway let’s check out the yearly stats in which I listen to 10% more music than 2023 with 47,722 scrobbles.

Top Music is not much of a surprise in the #1 spots. I listened to a hell of a lot of classic ANRI from her 80’s albums, and Osaka Hood took over my life when I found that album on Bandcamp. 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE featuring Tiger JK and Yoon Mirae was also my 2nd spot on my Top 100 K-Pop for 2024. It’s cool to see my first song scrobbled in 2024 was by Sugar Donut. They were a fun pop punk group I was into in the early 2000s.

For the charts below, none of this is surprising to me. Monday is my busiest day because I am on the road a bit more helping my dad with food bank deliveries in the morning. My busiest hours as expected, tend to be from 1am to 7am since I listen to music as I sleep. I also listened to a lot of vinyl this year that didn’t get recorded in the stats, and didn’t find Open Scrobbler until a couple days ago. So I’ll be scrobbling physical media listens this coming year, which will provide more accurate music listening stats for 2025.

Top tags will shock no one lol. Artist map is not surprisingly lit up in a lot of areas of the world since I enjoy hearing music from various languages. Considering how much I listened to music released in 2024, it is no surprise that it’s the most listened to decade on the chart. I do find it interesting that I listen to the decades in chronological order based on how much I scrobbled.

Music Ratio shows I listened to more music as I had more tracks, albums, and artists scrobbled compared to 2023. Listening Fingerprint might be the most interesting chart yet, because it shows I am more consistent and willing to discover artists than the global average. It might be due to the fact I won’t take advantage of playlists generated by the actual streaming websites like Spotify or YouTube Music, but stick to playlist I create or my own library via Plexamp. Mainstream score is not surprising because I find a lot of mainstream music to not be my cup of tea, and I spend a lot of time finding smaller artists via Bandcamp especially.

Quick Facts shows I listened to music for one third of 2024, which is crazy and not surprising at the same time. Longest streak says 248 days in a row, and I’m confused that I had any days without a music scrobble. More inclined to believe scrobbling was broken. I never love tracks on Last.FM, and zero events is normal because I refuse to give Ticketmaster money, and never check in for events on the site either. Pretty cool to see them give a little Did You Know stat about how many tracks I listened to with ‘Fire’ in it last year.

Community wise, I didn’t expect to be 4th. JEdidude77 usually beats me as of late, but not getting 2nd surprises me. Really annoyed that MattyN had more new artists than me, but that’s because I chat with him all the time and I’m being petty. LOL. Look at that, I’ll the only one with VOoDOo BOogie as top track. I’ll take that win!
