G-Nitro’s Daily Music Wrap-Up – 11/16/24

Daily 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die selection:

Jeff Buckley – Grace – Rating: 3 / 5

One of those albums I was expecting to loathe, but it was fine overall. There are some genuinely good songs here, and then some that are questionable. Some of the lyrics are downright just bad. One lyric is legit “And I never stepped on the cracks ’cause I thought I’d hurt my mother”, and I was like wtf is this garbage? Also some songs I feel like he enjoys his own voice way too much. Overall worth a listen, but I won’t return.

Soul Jazz Records presents Miami Sound 2 (More Funk & Soul From Miami, Florida 1967-1974) – Rating: 5 / 5 – Vinyl/Packaging: 4.5 / 5

I really enjoyed the first volume of Miami Sound, but this second volume in my opinion is superior. There is just so much funky goodness, you can’t help but move along to it. I couldn’t find a miss on any of the 20 selections on this double vinyl release. The vinyl quality is really good to, but I do recommend a good cleaning of the records first. The gatefold outer sleeve is a bit thinner than I would like, but looks great and includes information on the artists. Each vinyl has a printed inner sleeve with disc 1 having continuing information on the artists.
