G-Nitro’s Daily Music Wrap-Up – 10/20/24

Daily 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die selection:

Bee Gees – Odessa – Rating: 0.5 / 5

So the description of this album on the challenge page states “the album was not particularly well-received, though now is regarded by many as the most significant of the group’s Sixties albums.” And after 3 songs I hit stop and understand why it was not well-received. It’s just garbage. It sounded like they wanted to do a prog-rock epic album and utterly failed. I can imagine the only people enjoying this are those who love to say “You just don’t get it man” before they go into some over pretentious spiel about why the album is so important. I’m good if I never hearing another track from this.

Other albums:

MICHELLE – Songs About You Specifically – Rating: 4.25 / 5 – Vinyl/Packaging Rating: 4.5 / 5

Found them randomly via YouTube recommendations last month, and decided to snag the vinyl. Glad I did because this album is really good pop music, one that leans more to bedroom pop. The songs are super catchy, both lyrically and with the production. Highly recommend if you want some fun pop vibes. The vinyl is a nice transparent ruby red that pops with its color. I was surprised to find an inner paper sleeve lined with anti-static plastic inside. There’s also a printed fold out lyric insert, and the outer sleeve is solid quality.
