I checked out more J-Pop in 2025 than ever, and it shows with this year’s playlist. I subscribed to even more YouTube channels this year, listened to a bunch of albums, and made sure to go through all the music videos posted on my Discord’s J-Pop channel to ensure this list was packed with great music. In the end 2025’s J-Pop playlist is overflowing with more than 900 songs, and over 53 hours of music. There is one major change this year, and that is no longer including Future Funk songs into this playlist. This is not a slight to Future Funk, but more so to give full focus on Japanese music itself and not a genre that can sometimes be adjacent to it.
I hope everyone enjoys the playlist as much as I enjoyed listening to the new music released this year. Sorry for it being on Spotify, as this is currently the streaming service I use as I paid through to fall of 2026. Some services are now allowing you to import playlists to their platform, so if available, hopefully that allows you to import any songs available on that platform over.
